These two pages contain 50 photos taken mostly in Japan by William C. Stimpfle and friends while serving as occupation forces with the U.S. 8th Army. Bill was a member of the 3247th Signal Base Maintenance Co. and was a Military Guard / Patrolman. The first few photos are actually taken at Camp Polk, Louisiana before leaving overseas. He was in Yokohama from November 20th 1946 to June 19th 1947. As you can see by these images and captions, his stay in Japan was an enjoyable one for him. My Dad often said that the Japanese people treated him with great respect and kindness. Many photos are described on back and I'll do my best interpret his hand writing. Bill passed away in April of 2004 as so many other great WW2 veterans are sadly doing. I hope you find these images both interesting and informative. Please feel free to email me with any questions or comments you may have or if you can help me with spelling of some of the names. My Fathers handwriting was difficult to read. I might say one more thing. Bill used the term "Jap" to describe the Japanese people many times on the back of these photos. It was not meant to insult so please don't take it that way. I included it in the captions for historical accuracy. Thanks for looking.
